Ten Most Frequently Asked Questions

1 What qualifications do your staff hold?

Our staff are qualified to N.V.Q level 3 standard. I have one member of staff who is an Early Years Professional and has almost completed her B A.

I do have staff who are training to level 3 standard.

I do not take staff on a permanent basis unless they are willing to train to level 3 standard.

2 What are the ratios of staff to children?

For babies aged 0-2years the ratio is 1-3

For infants aged 2-3 years the ratio is 1-4

For pre-school aged 3-5 years the ratio is 1-8

These are standard ratios as set by Ofsted.

3 What do we need to bring with us for our child?

Babies will need to bring bottles either ready made or separate milk powder. Staff will discuss this you on your visit. We need nappies and a change of clothes. From toddler age (16 months) to 5 years we ask you to bring a pair of wellies and some indoor shoes as the children spend a lot of time out of doors.

4 Do you offer flexible childcare?

This would depend on your requirements. We are a very busy nursery and at the time of writing (February 2011) we are a full nursery and therefore we cannot accommodate a too flexible routine. You would need to discuss this with us.

5 Have you facilities for special needs children?

Yes, we have cared for many children with a wide variety of special needs. We would be happy to discuss any extra needs with you.

6 What meals do you provide?

We provide breakfast with a choice of cereals and toast, dinner which is a cooked meal with also a pudding, and a light tea. We have a healthy snack time mid morning and we ensure we have 5 fruit /vegetables a day.  We also provide special diets for those who request them.

No, we have a lot of long serving staff. One member of staff has been with us for 20 years. Two staff members have been here for 16 years. Five staff members have been here 10 years and another five have been here 8 years. Three quarters of our staff have been here at least five years.

8 Do the children have access to outdoor play?

We have the most amazing outdoor space any child could wish to play in and we use this to its full advantage.

9 What facilities do you have for the children to sleep?

We have a separate bedroom for the babies and also a comfy area if they wish to sleep on cushions.
